Faculty Bio

Leanne Demery has nearly a decade of experience supporting global and community development programs with a focus on systems thinking, social equity, partnerships, health systems strengthening, and food security.

Currently country program coordinator for USAID, Leanne plays a number of key roles there, including serving as lead strategic programming management for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, representing the company in interagency teams, advising pilot innovation projects, and acting as a key liaison for the Multilateral Branch.

Previous experience includes manager, Foundation Partnerships for UNICEF USA; director of community health, Active Citizen Project for Project EATS in New York City; consultant for World Food Programme Sénégal; program manager for Global Citizen in New York City; and community health development agent for the U.S. Peace Corps. In the Public Health sector, Leanne was HIV and Hepatitis C program specialist at BronxWorks in Bronx, NY and emergency medical technician, Basic Medical Express Ambulance in Chicago, IL.

She holds a Master of Public Health from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Leanne was honored with a Field Support Health Sector Award from the USAID Bureau for Global Health in 2020.
